Members of a farmer’s family, including a lactating mother, were thrown out of their house after the farmer failed to repay six instalments of a housing loan, in Tarihal village in Belagavi district of Karnataka, recently.

Officers of Aptus Value Housing, a home loan finance company, seized the house of Ganapati Lohar, who had taken a home loan five years ago. He had not paid the instalments for nearly six months.

Aptus Value Housing went to court and obtained an order of eviction.

The company seized the house after asking all occupants to move out, in the presence of lawyers and police personnel.

Ganapati Lohar’s daughter, who had returned to her parents’ home for delivery of her child, has been shifted to the local anganwadi, officials said.
