Yash Sawhney, Muskaan Jubbal, and Shreyovi Mehta are three students charting distinct paths in diverse fields. Yet, they share a common thread: their passion and belief in the power to create a lasting change. Their stories not only showcase their talents and ambitions but also stand as an example of how young minds like them are driving the future forward.
Speeding past barriers: How Muskaan Jubbal raced her way to karting
Muskaan Jubbal, Grade 12 student, is not your typical teenager. She has traded the usual pastimes for the high-speed excitement of karting, a sport still largely considered a male bastion. A national champion in karting, Muskaan’s journey into the world of motorsports began when her elder brother, a national karting champion himself, influenced her to take up the sport. “My passion for driving began when I was just six years old. I’ve always been fascinated by cars and the thrill of speed,” she recalls.
Muskaan’s journey took a significant turn when she participated in her first Formula 1 race in 2013, igniting a fire within her that propelled her into competitive karting. “By the time I turned nine, I was already racing at Smaaash Sky Karting, competing alongside my brother. That’s when I knew this was something I wanted to pursue seriously,” she reflects.

In 2018, Muskaan stepped onto the competitive stage at the age of 11. “It was a significant leap from fun karting to competitive racing,” she shares. Competing against older and more experienced drivers proved challenging, but it was also a learning experience. She quickly made her mark, being recognized as the youngest and fastest female on the track. By 2019, Muskaan had secured her spot in the JK Tyre Girls On Track (GOT) program, finishing first in all three rounds.
Winning the ‘Best Woman Driver’ title in the MRF MMSC Indian National Car Racing Championship was a pivotal moment for Muskaan. “The competition was intense, with skilled drivers from all over. Earning the title felt like all the hard work and countless hours of training had paid off,” she exclaims, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Alongside her racing commitments, Muskaan is determined to maintain her academic performance. “Balancing studies and racing has been challenging, but I’ve developed strong time management skills,” she explains. Her subjects include English, Business Studies, Accountancy, Psychology, and Artificial Intelligence. Apart from being a karting champion, Muskaan aims to be an entrepreneur in the years to come.
Through a child’s lens: How 10-year-old Shreyovi Mehta’s stunning wildlife click wins her global acclaim
While Muskaan races on the track, Shreyovi Mehta, a 5th-grade student, captures the beauty of nature through her lens. Coming from a family of wildlife professionals (her father is a renowned wildlife photographer and her mother runs a wildlife tourism company), Shreyovi’s journey into photography began at the tender age of two. “I love the life my parents lead and being with them in the field. That’s how I picked up their cameras, and my learning started. I love seeing the jungle through the camera lens,” she shares with a child-like enthusiasm.
Shreyovi recently became the runner-up in the ’10 Years and Under’ category of the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year award which is hosted annually by the Natural History Museum. This global competition draws hundreds of thousands of entries from around the world, each capturing unique and captivating moments from the lives of wildlife. The photograph that garnered her a lot of recognition was taken during an early morning stroll in Bharatpur bird sanctuary. “While admiring the view, two peacocks walked into the middle of the road. I immediately knelt down to frame the shot, and a blue bull popped out from the bushes. I loved the entire mood and just took the shot,” she describes, her eyes shining with pride.

Selected from nearly 60,000 entries, Shreyovi’s photograph was a testament to her budding talent and keen eye for detail. “I am very happy that the jury liked my photo, especially because it showcases our national bird—the peacock. It is a great moment for India, so I am proud,” she beams in excitement.
Balancing her studies with her passion for photography, Shreyovi credits her school for all the support that she got. “The teachers encourage us to explore our interests beyond the classroom. The school’s emphasis on holistic development has allowed me to pursue what I love while excelling academically,” she explains.
With aspirations to learn more about wildlife photography and explore India’s rich biodiversity, Shreyovi embodies the spirit of curiosity and exploration. “I wish to explore India and its wildlife, as it is home to many beautiful, exotic species,” Shreyovi adds.
Sustainable innovator: Yash Sawhney is revolutionizing sugarcane farming in India with Project 101
At just 16 years of age, Yash Sawhney, an 11th-grade student, is making waves in the field of sustainable agriculture through his initiative, Ek Sau Ek (Project 101). The project aims to enhance the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh, India, by promoting sustainable farming practices. “Growing up connected to the farming community through my family’s involvement in the sugarcane industry, I saw firsthand the challenges faced by farmers. I wanted to make a difference,” Yash explains.
Launched in July 2023, Ek Sau Ek focusses on supporting 100 sugarcane farmers by blending modern agricultural practices with traditional knowledge. “We aim to enhance their productivity and profitability while fostering environmental sustainability. Our initiatives include workshops, educational materials, and collaborations,” he elaborates. The project introduces techniques like soil testing, trench planting, and furrow irrigation, resulting in improved yields and reduced water consumption.
